Delhi hit-and-run cases: Despite tougher laws, deterrence remains weak

Rajesh, a gardener, tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run accident in Delhi. This incident highlights a broader issue with unidentified vehicles involved in hit-and-runs leading to legal complexities. Despite some improvement in fatal accident numbers, over 40% of city crashes involve such cases. Increased legal penalties have yet to deter offenders effectively.

Billionaire Elon Musk, the owner of X (formerly Twitter), shared a video marking the second anniversary of his $44 billion acquisition, showing himself entering the social media platform's headquarters. He captioned the nostalgic throwback, "Let that sink in!" This moment reflects on his takeover in 2022, during which he dismissed several key executives, including CEO Parag Agrawal and legal chief Vijaya Gadde.

After the acquisition, Musk updated his Twitter profile to label himself the "Chief Twit" and changed his location to Twitter headquarters.

Before finalizing the $44 billion deal in 2022, Musk communicated with advertisers and followers, explaining his reasons for acquiring the platform. In a tweet, he discussed his motivations and vision for the social media giant, appealing to advertisers and outlining plans to enhance the platform for brands.

Musk expressed that one motivation for his acquisition was his belief that traditional media had failed to fulfill its responsibilities. He noted, “In the relentless pursuit of clicks, much of traditional media has fueled and catered to polarized extremes, believing it brings in money, but in doing so, the opportunity for dialogue is lost.”

Following his takeover, Twitter experienced significant changes. One of his first actions was to overhaul the verification system, shifting from a criteria-based approach for verified users (indicated by a blue checkmark) to a system that allowed anyone to obtain the checkmark for a fee.
